    Elementary school and homework!!!

So I have a daughter in Elementary School. And really...helping with homework is the number 1 most difficult thing to do now that she's 10.

So let's talk about homework... Any fellow parent with good tips on helping children with school?

I've been there... Not the best place to be but try to take it easy and don't pass your stress to your child!

I agree with Amelie. Try to stay calm, drink a cup of tea while helping with homework and of course ask your husband for help now and then!!!

I've always thought the idea of a "study hour" each night is a good system. It helps form structure and gives them a designated time each day to get their work done

Ron that's a good idea, are you planning your child's studying methods already?
I'm sorry to say this but I didn't help my children so much with school because I am not very well educated...

Its great to help kids with their homework, however remember that you are not expected to know everything and suggesting what to do for the kids might be a good idea. It will also help them to be wrong sometimes, so if you don't know the answer, don't make something up, let you kids put what they think is the best answer for whatever work it is.

    Hope that helped!

This is a good idea because I remember my parents would give my sister "study times" with 15 minute intervals with breaks and guess what? She became a doctor and now is a professor at Loyola University.

I agree as well. I had never thought about that idea, but if gives the kids a structure and makes you make time for the kids.

It makes the kid's become more organized and studies show organized children do better in school.
