French first lady gives birth to baby girl
Carla Bruni, first lady of France, has given birth to a baby girl.
She and her husband, President Nicolas Sarkozy, have released a statement professing their joy over the blessed event.
However, the little girl’s name has not yet been revealed, as Sarkozy said he would leave it up to Bruni to let that secret out when the time was right.
Bruni’s entire pregnancy has been marked by unusual silence from the president’s office, as the couple hoped to keep the entire event as secret and private as possible.
While Sarkozy’s followers hope the arrival of his daughter will soften the president’s image as he runs for re-election, others question his dedication after he flew to Frankfurt while Bruni was in active labor, then only visited her and the baby briefly following the birth.
This is Sarkozy’s fourth child, and Bruni’s second.
