Orlando Bloom Names His Son After his Grandmother

Actor Orlando Bloom and his wife, Aussie supermodel Miranda Kerr, named their son Flynn. The name was inspired by Orlando’s grandmother who passed away before the baby was born.

Bloom’s grandmother’s name was Evelyn.

The actor was convinced that he and his wife were going to have a girl, and if so, he wanted to name her Evelyn. After finding out that they were going to have a baby boy he decided he wanted to name his son Flynn. Flynn is a name that was adapted from the name Evelyn.

Bloom became a father in January of this year. He told Regis and Kelly on their TV chat show that his grandmother actually passed away when Flynn was conceived and that she was very dear to his heart. He also told the talk show hosts that the child’s name was born out of a period of extreme sadness and joy.

Orlando Bloom’s new film, The Three Musketeers, premieres in Australia in October. He continues his Lord of the Ring’s role as Legolas in The Hobbit films.

Miranda Kerr posted a picture on Twitter that shows her breastfeeding her son Flynn while she was on break during a photo shoot. In January she also posted a picture of her breastfeeding Flynn and at that time announced his name.
