The students and teacher of a class at Sweet Springs Elementary School in Missouri got quite the shock when show and tell time came. One student decided to show a drug pipe and some drugs that belonged to his Mother. The drugs were later identified as methamphetamine.
A search warrant was obtained to search the child’s home, and led to the police recovering a crack pipe and a butane lighter.
The child’s mother, 32 year old Michelle Marie Cheatham, was arrested and charged with possession of drugs and the endangerment of a child.
Police say the several baggies of crack rocks that were found in the boy’s backpack were worth around $3,700.
Sweet Springs Police Chief Richard Downing states “When I called the prosecutor about it, they said, ‘You’re kidding me, aren’t you?’”
Cheatham faces charges for two class C felonies with punishment up up to seven years for each charge.
